Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan is set to begin her quest for an Olympic medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Stade de France, today.

Amusan, who finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics, will compete in the first round and is expected to go all the way.

She won the World Championship two years ago in Oregon, setting a world record in the process, and has also claimed consecutive Diamond League titles, Commonwealth Games gold, and medals at the African Championship and African Games.

The 27-year-old has been in exceptional form this season, including a world-leading time of 12.40 seconds at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational in May.

Amusan also set the African indoor 60m hurdles record twice earlier this year and secured her third consecutive African Games title in March.

Meanwhile, Tobi Amusan faces strong competition from Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, USA’s Alaysha Johnson, world champion Danielle Williams, and reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico.
