Asisat Oshoala is likely to start the Super Falcons’ opening match against Brazil from the bench, barring any last-minute changes.
Head coach Randy Waldrum is expected to field a 4-3-3 formation, with reports indicating that the Bay FC forward is not among the starting three attackers.
Oshoala’s spot in the starting lineup has been taken over by emerging talents Uchenna Kanu and Jennifer Echegini.
The Super Falcons will kick off their Group C campaign against Brazil on Thursday evening in Bordeaux.
Coach Waldrum remains confident with a squad featuring goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, defensive stalwarts Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Oluwatosin Demehin, and Chidinma Okeke, midfielders Rasheedat Ajibade, Christy Ucheibe, Deborah Abiodun, and Toni Payne, and forwards Chinwendu Ihezuo and Uchenna Kanu.
