Paris 2024: Super Falcons Didn’t Play Collectively – Nieketen

Following Nigeria’s exit from the Women’s football event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, former Nigerian footballer, Peter Nieketen believes the team was undine by their blunt attack.

Nieketen applauded the Super Falcons for their efforts, following their elimination in the group stage of the Olympic Games football event.

He called for patience from fans and suggested a gradual overhaul of the squad, integrating new players while still utilizing the experience of some older players.

“The Super Falcons did everything humanly possible to represent us well in the Olympics, but it just did not work out,” Nieketen said. “They tried their best possible, but it was not good enough.”

“We could not convert our chances and we were very loose in our defensive abilities. The team did not play collectively as a unit.”

Nieketen continued, “You cannot just phase out the old players and start introducing the young ones. Gradually the young ones are going to be coming on board while the old ones will be dropped.

“We cannot say because they represented the country maybe for a few years that it is time for their era to pass.”
