Nigeria’s Samuel Ogazi has made history by becoming the first Nigerian athlete in 36 years to qualify for the 400m final at the Olympic Games.
Following in the footsteps of the legendary Innocent Egbunike, Ogazi’s achievement comes in his Olympic debut at just 18 years old.
Ogazi ran a new personal best of 44.41 seconds, finishing third in heat 3 of the 400m semifinals, securing him a spot in the final.
Samuel Ogazi will now prepare to run the best race of his career to secure a medal in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
