Nigeria’s top table tennis player Aruna Quadri has officially secured his place in the men’s singles event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) included Quadri in the list of qualified players, guaranteeing his participation in the upcoming Olympics.
Quadri, ranked as Africa’s number one, is among 86 players who made the cut based on their world rankings.
At 35, he is set to make his fourth Olympic appearance, having previously represented Nigeria in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
The former Sporting Lisbon of Portugal, reached the quarter-finals in the 2016 Rio Games.
The ITTF confirmed Quadri’s qualification on Friday, alongside Algeria’s Lynda Loghraibi, just ahead of next week’s critical world ranking update.
Next week’s rankings will be crucial in determining the final list of competitors for the highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where 86 men and 86 women are expected to compete in the singles events.
