Abisola Olajuwon, currently an assistant coach for the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun, has been appointed to the coaching staff of Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, as they prepare for the Paris Olympic Games.

Olajuwon will work alongside head coach Rena Wakama, who recently led D’Tigress to victory in the Afrobasket tournament in Rwanda and secured their qualification for the Olympic Games.

Despite these accomplishments, the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has decided to bolster the coaching team in anticipation of the Games.

D’Tigress earned their Olympic berth despite not winning a game at the qualifying tournament in Antwerp, Belgium.

They will compete in Group B of the Women’s Basketball Event against Canada, Australia, and host nation France.

The team’s Olympic campaign will begin against Australia on July 29, 2024, followed by a match against France on August 1, 2024.
