Nigeria’s Blessing Oborududu lost her semifinal bout in the women’s 68kg wrestling category, succumbing to Kyrgyzstan’s Meerim Zhumanazarova with a score of 3-1 on points.

Oborududu began her quest for a medal by defeating Canada’s Linda Morais, advancing to the quarter-finals.

Despite a slow start in her opening match, where she conceded 2 points in the first 3 minutes, she rallied in the second half to score six consecutive points, securing an 8-2 victory.

In a tense quarter-finals encounter, Oborududu defeated World No. 3, Koumba Larroque of France, with a 6-2 victory.

However, she was unable to maintain her momentum in the semi-final match against Zhumanazarova.

The Tokyo 2020 silver medalist will return to the mat on Tuesday to compete for a bronze medal.
