In preparation for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Nigerian wrestlers are gearing up with a rigorous training schedule that includes participation in a crucial Pre-Olympic tournament.
The team, comprising six athletes; five females and one male, will first compete in Madrid before heading to Saarbrucken, Germany for intensive training.
The wrestlers, honored at a send-forth event in Yenagoa on Monday, expressed their readiness for the challenge ahead.
Among them are Ogunsanye Christiana (53kg), Kolawole Esther (62kg), Odunayo Adekuoroye (57kg), Hannah Reuben (76kg), Blessing Oborududu (68kg), and the sole male representative Mutuwa Ashton (125kg).
This preparatory phase is a crucial step in their journey towards competing in Paris, where they will vie for Olympic glory in their respective weight classes.
