Ezinne Kalu has lauded D’Tigress head coach, Rena Wakama after Nigeria’s remarkable 75-62 triumph over Australia in the Women’s Basketball event at the Paris Olympic Games.
The Opals, known as one of the most formidable teams in basketball, were outplayed by Nigeria under Wakama’s guidance.
This victory marks another significant achievement for Wakama, who led the team to Afrobasket success just two weeks after assuming the role of head coach.
Kalu attributed Nigeria’s impressive performance against the Opals to Wakama’s influence.
“One of the main reasons for our incredible victory has been the impact of head coach Rena Wakama,” Kalu stated.
“She has elevated our defensive game. She brings her experience and fresh perspective, seeing things in us that we sometimes miss.
“She trusts us, and we trust her. It’s invaluable to have someone who knows the game so well and is so dedicated to our success.”
The D’Tigress will next face the host nation, France, on Thursday.
