Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel secured his place in the semifinals of the men’s 400m hurdles, finishing second in Heat 4 with a time of 48.32 seconds, earning an automatic spot.
Jamaica’s Roshawn Clarke claimed victory in the heat, clocking in at 48.17 seconds, while Wilfried Happio secured the final automatic qualification spot with a time of 48.42 seconds.
This is the fourth fastest time Nathaniel has recorded in the 400m hurdles.
Nathaniel is also the first Nigerian athlete in 12 years to advance to the semifinals of the 400m hurdles at the Olympics, following Amaechi Morton’s achievement at London 2012.
