Nigeria’s Ese Brume saw her dreams of Olympic glory slip away as she finished outside the medal positions in the women’s long jump event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Brume also didn’t have a strong qualifying performance, and she struggled to find her rhythm in the final, posting a best jump of 6.70m that left her in fifth place.

The 26-year-old Nigerian had been considered a medal contender after her impressive showings in the build-up to the Games, but ultimately came up short on the biggest stage.

Brume’s performance was still a remarkable achievement for Nigerian athletics, and she will look to build on this experience as she sets her sights on future championships.
