African Champion, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi has qualified for the final of the Men’s Shot Put event at the ongoing Paris Olympic Games.

Enekwechi placed third place in his group, having twice thrown a mark of 21 meters.

His first-round attempt of 21.13 meters placed him in a relatively secure position.

Only 12 athletes from the two groups will advance to the final.

In the Women’s Discus event, Nigerian competitors Obiageri Amaechi and Chioma Onyekwere did not reach the finals.

Onyekwere recorded a throw of 60.78 meters, while Amaechi’s best was 45.45 meters.

Another Nigerian athlete, Ashley Anumba, threw 58.83 meters, finishing 14th in Group A and also missing out on the finals.
