Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, Nigeria’s premier shot-putter, is gearing up to enhance his performance ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games.
Enekwechi recently secured his third African title in Douala, reinforcing his status as the top shot-putter in Africa and one of the elite on the global stage.
Despite his success, which includes a Commonwealth Games gold medal, Enekwechi has yet to make a significant impact at the Olympics.
With the next Olympics scheduled for July, he is determined to improve and make his mark.
“Records and streaks are meant to be broken, so I guess I’ve been on some kind of streak since 2018.
“It shows how old I’m getting, but also that I’m more mature and experienced, and I want to face the challenges as they come,” Enekwechi shared.
He continued, “I want to make progress, and Nigerians want to see the 22m, so why not? And that also means I’m going to do better against my competitors because there are eight guys ahead of me as far as the world rankings, and I think it’s my responsibility to take them down.
“If I throw 22 metres, it means I’m more likely to make the finals at the Olympics and fight for the medal.”
As Enekwechi sets his sights on Olympic success, he remains committed to pushing his limits and representing Nigeria with distinction.
