In the ongoing Paris Olympics, Nigeria’s Ella Onojuvwevwo placed 6th in the third heat of the women’s 400m.
Onojuvwevwo clocked a time of 51.65 seconds, falling short of automatic qualification for the semi-finals.
Despite leading the field coming into the final bend, Onojuvwevwo lacked the energy to maintain her position in the home straight.
She will have another opportunity to advance when she competes in the Repechage rounds on Tuesday.
The heat was won by Amber Anning with a time of 49.68 seconds, while Lieke Klaver secured second place, finishing in 49.96 seconds.
