Nigeria Basketball WNT, D’Tigress, pulled off a stunning 75-62 victory against world number 3, Australia, in their first group stage match at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Australia initially led by 6 points, but Ezinne Kalu sparked a turnaround for Nigeria with a deep 3-pointer, narrowing the gap to just 2 points.

By halftime, Nigeria had surged ahead with a 41-28 lead, after trailed by 8 points in the first quarter.

D’Tigress showed no fear, making every shot count to secure a 13-point lead at the break.

Kalu was instrumental, scoring a game-high 17 points. In the third quarter, Australia went on a 12-4 run to close the gap to 5 points, but Nicole Enabosi made a crucial turnaround shot, and despite two free throws from Australia, Nigeria maintained their lead.

This is Nigeria’s first win at Paris 2024 and their second-ever Olympic victory. They face France in their next game.
