President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN), Frank Orbih in an interview with Brila.net highlighted the federation’s dedication to preparing athletes for the upcoming Olympics.

Orbih spoke on the importance of early preparation and the high-quality facilities provided to the athletes during their initial training phase.

The BFN initiated training camps for athletes before the Ministry of Sports took over, recognizing the critical need for thorough preparation.

” We as a federation actually started campaigning for them before the ministry took over because we knew the importance of preparation,” Orbih stated.

Speaking of the facilities used, Orbih said, “We had a partnership with the Koei club, who allowed the national team to train there, so, we got them to train at the Koei club for the past few weeks, which has about the best badminton facilities in the country right now.“

The team has now moved to Germany for a foreign training tour, with plans to continue training in Paris.

“They left for the foreign campaign, then from Germany they moved to Paris. The team has camped in Lagos for the past few weeks. As a federation, we actually started campaigning for them before the ministry took over, because we knew the importance of preparation.”

Orbih concluded, “It’s one thing to talk about wanting to win a medal, but it’s another thing to look at what is done to prepare yourself to win that medal. So we saw that need and we did that.

“So we got them to train at the Koei club, which has about the best badminton facilities in the country right now.”
