Nigerian medal hopeful, Odunayo Adekuoroye’s journey at the [event] ended in the quarterfinals of the Women’s 57kg Freestyle Wrestling category.

Adekuoroye advanced to the quarterfinals after securing a victory against Algeria’s Fouzia Chaimaa Aouissi, taking a commanding 5-0 lead before her opponent was forced to withdraw due to injury.

In the quarterfinal bout, Adekuoroye faced China’s Kexin Hong 10-8.

The world-ranked number 3 wrestler initially surged to a 4-0 lead, but Hong mounted a strong comeback, scoring 8 points in quick succession.

Despite Adekuoroye leveling the score at 8-8, Hong ultimately clinched the match with a 10-8 victory, ending Adekuoroye’s campaign.
