Team Nigeria’s Isau Ogunkunle delivered a stunning performance at the Paralympic Games, defeating Turkey’s Abdullah Ozturk 3-1 (11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 10-12) to advance to the next round of the Para-Table Tennis event.

Ogunkunle competed in the Men’s Singles Class 4, and fought his way back to secure victory against Ozturk, who is currently ranked third in the world.

The Turkish player initially won the first two sets, but Ogunkunle made an impressive comeback to claim the match in four sets.

With this victory, the 2022 Commonwealth Bronze medal winner joins Kayode Alabi as the second Nigerian player to qualify for the quarter-finals in Paris.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s Singles Para-Table Tennis Class 10, Nigeria’s Faith Obazuaye faced a tough challenge in her Round of 16 match against Wen Shiau Tian of Chinese Taipei.

Tian dominated the match, winning in straight sets 3-0 (11-4, 11-8, 11-3) to secure her place in the quarterfinals.
