If you feel shortchanged watching the Eagles in Morocco at the CHAN tournament, it could be because Coach Salisu Yusuf did not select the ‘absolute best’ players currently in the NPFL.
One man who knows – a Coach who doubles as a member of the NFF Technical Committee – has told brila.net in a what he insists is a “professional” assessment of the CHAN Eagles.
In an interview with Anthony Bekederemo and Ex-Eagles Ifeanyi Udeze on Brila FM’s Center Circle on Monday, FC Ifeanyi Ubah Coach, Issa Ladan Bosso stated that any other gaffer from the league would have done a better job.
Bosso said he has even called the Nigeria Football Federation President, Amaju Pinnick to register this concerns.
‘I called and told the NFF President that the players are not the best in the league. They are our products and we know them. If a different Coach had been at the helm, he’d pick a completely different team and they’ll do far better.
Analyzing the team’s performance so far in Morocco, Bosso suggested the team lacked tactic depth following the inconsistencies in the games against Rwanda and Libya.
Nigeria had 21 shots chances against the Amavubi – with only two on goal – in the goalless result of the first group game.

In his view, Bosso said the second game against Libya – which the Eagles won by a lone goal – provided the opportunity for the Cocah to improve on finishing, rather the team fell short of even creating chances.
He also suggested Sunday Faleye’s goal may have been mere luck.
‘In football creating chances is important but we couldn’t convert against Rwanda. So, You’d think against Libya there would be an improvement, but we created less and scored a goal; even the goal just happened.’
