Former Nigerian international and current football agent Henry Isaac has criticized the handling of Victor Osimhen’s transfer saga, blaming the striker’s agent for the situation.
Osimhen recently joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli until June 2025, though he could leave as early as January if his new release clause is triggered.
Speaking on Brila FM with Ifeanyi Udeze, Henry Isaac expressed his disappointment with how the situation was managed:
“The way they went about the whole thing was not right.
“The way Osimhen’s agent handled it was also not right. There are ways to handle players and what the player says.”
Isaac continued, “You just cannot come out and say whatever you want. His agent should have backed him up, stating that for now, he’s still under contract and still a Napoli player.
“That would have sealed everything, and no pressure would have been on him anymore. But you know, these agents, they are more concerned about their pockets and don’t protect the player.”
Isaac further emphasized that the agent failed in his duty to protect Osimhen:
“When you manage someone, it’s your priority to protect them at all costs. That’s why Osimhen had to make a U-turn to protect himself. For Osimhen to be relegated to the second team, I was so disappointed with Napoli. You can’t do that to a European player.”
Speaking on African leagues Issac mentioned that this is a major reason to improve thd leagues so the world can see the worth and value of these players.
“This is why I always say Africa should build its own football and its own system. You can’t do that to a Brazilian player.”
