Osimhen Within Reach Of Nigeria’s All-Time Scoring Record After Coming off Bench to Tame Rohr:s Cheetahs

Victor Osimhen has moved within two goals of Segun Odegbami on Nigeria’s all-time top scorers list following his strike against Benin Republic in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The forward netted his 22nd international goal during Nigeria’s 3-0 victory at the Nest of Champions in Uyo on Saturday.

Osimhen, who came off the bench in the 64th minute, found the back of the net just six minutes later.

With this latest goal, Osimhen now sits third on Nigeria’s all-time scoring chart, surpassing Yakubu Aiyegbeni, who occupies fourth with 21 goals.

The 25 year-old is now just two goals shy of Segun Odegbami’s 24-goal tally, while Rashidi Yekini remains the nation’s top scorer with 37 goals.

Osimhen will look to add to his total when Nigeria faces Rwanda on Tuesday.
