Victor Osimhen believes his audacious overhead kick for Galatasaray on Saturday could be a strong contender for the Puskás Award.

The Nigeria international scored a stunning overhead kick in the 94th minute against Antalyaspor, leaving spectators in awe.

Reflecting on the moment, the on-loan forward revealed that he’s been aiming to score such a goal for a long time.

He added that the goal is worthy of consideration for the prestigious Puskás Award, which celebrates the best goals of the year.

“My goal could be a candidate for the Puskás Award,” Osimhen said.

“I wanted to hit it the first time, but a defender got in the way. So I let the ball bounce, and luckily it moved away from the defender, giving me the chance to strike it.”

“I’ve always wanted to score that type of goal.”

Osimhen also stressed further that he’s committed to Galatasaray, saying, “I want to score as many goals as I can for this team. Whenever I get the chance, I will fight for the team and also provide assists.”
