Osimhen Scores but Napoli Drop Points against Cagliari

Victor Osimhen found the back of the net for Francesco Calzona’s new-look Napoli, away to Cagliari in Sunday’s Serie A game.

Napoli however could only earn a point from the game with Zito Luvumbo’s last-gasp equaliser denying the Champions maximum points.

With the latest goal, Osimhen made it back to back goals for the Partenopei after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

He has scored the team’s only goals under new coach Calzona who took charge on interim basis, since Walter Mazzarri was fired.

Osimhen was doubtful for the game, but shook off flu symptoms to start up front with with Giacomo Raspadori.

The 25-year-old then gave Napoli the lead against the run of play, after Raspadori robbed Tommaso Augello off possession and floated a ball to the back post for the Nigerian to head home.

Napoli threatened again moment later, but Osimhen managed to hit the upright twice in the same move, though the offside flag saved his blushes.

Those chances proved costly, as Cagliari snatched a point in the final moments of the added time with Luvumbo pouncing on lose ball to blast home a half-volley.
