Victor Osimhen continued his impressive form for Galatasaray, scoring a crucial penalty in their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.
The Super Eagles striker led the attack for the Lions as they traveled to Sivas, showcasing his importance to the team.
Galatasaray faced an early setback when Metehan Baltacı was sent off in the 15th minute for a reckless foul.
Just ten minutes later, Garry Rodrigues put Sivasspor ahead. However, Yunus Akgün equalized for Galatasaray 11 minutes before halftime, setting the stage for a dramatic first half.
Deep into stoppage time, Osimhen won and converted a penalty with composure, giving Galatasaray the lead before the break.
The strike etched Osimhen’s name into Galatasaray’s history books, as he became the first player to score or assist in 8 of his first 9 league games since the 2014-15 season.
Galatasaray started the second half strongly, extending their lead in the 53rd minute through Barış Alper Yılmaz. Sivasspor pushed forward in search of goals but failed to capitalize on their chances.
Osimhen, who played 74 minutes before being replaced by Victor Nelsson, registered three goal attempts, three successful dribbles, and 23 touches during his time on the pitch.
Although Turac Böke scored late for Sivasspor, it wasn’t enough as Galatasaray held on for the win.
Currently on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has been a revelation for Galatasaray, reaching double figures with 10 goals and 5 assists this season.
His brilliant performances continue to underline his status as one of the most impactful players in the Turkish Super Lig.
