Victor Osimhen missed Napoli’s Serie A match away at Fiorentina casting further doubts on the Forward’s availability for Nigeria’s FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.

Osimhen was ruled out of the trip to Stadio Artemio Franchi with a muscle injury as Napoli fought to keep their European hopes alive.

This season, the Nigerian has missed 13 league games due to injury, international duty or disciplinary issues.

He however has also contributed 15 goals and 3 assists combined this campaign.

Victor Osimhen is Nigeria’s go-to and with games against South Africa and Benin Republic in the World Cup qualifiers, Super Eagles head coach Finidi George will be sweating over his Forward’s fitness when camp opens on the weekend preceding June 3.

Finidi’s immediate task after signing a two-year deal as Super Eagles coach is to book a ticket to the World Cup and reach the quarter-final at least.

He has also been tasked to qualify for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations and reach the semi-final round.
