Napoli’s Sporting Director, Giovanni Manna has confirmed that Victor Osimhen’s loan move to Galatasaray was the most suitable decision for both the club and the player, following an unsuccessful attempt to secure a permanent transfer during the summer window.
Osimhen, who remained at Napoli after the summer transfer period ended, was initially the subject of interest from several high-profile clubs.
Napoli turned down lucrative loan offers from Chelsea and Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, while Paris Saint-Germain were priced out of a deal for the 25 year-old Nigerian forward.
In an interview with Radio CRC, Manna explained that Napoli’s original intention was to sell Osimhen but circumstances led to his loan to Galatasaray after the Italian transfer window had closed.
“At the beginning, we were not open to the loan, something that had also been discussed with other teams, but then Galatasaray came forward when the market was closed in Italy, and we found a solution that was right for everyone. Obviously, we would have liked to sell Osimhen,” Manna said.
Victor Osimhen has already made his debut for Galatasaray, providing an assist in their match against Rizespor last week.
