Turkish coach Yilmaz Vural has hailed Victor Osimhen as an exceptional talent, praising the Super Eagles striker’s outstanding abilities on the pitch. However, he has also raised concerns about the hefty valuation of the Nigerian forward.
Osimhen, 25, joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on loan in September after a failed attempt to secure a permanent move away from Napoli on deadline day.
Since his arrival, the striker has been a revelation in the Turkish Super Lig, delivering consistent match-winning performances.
With Mauro Icardi sidelined due to injury, Osimhen has stepped up as a key player for the Istanbul-based side, scoring week after week and proving vital to the team’s success.
The former Lille striker’s loan agreement with Galatasaray is valid for the entire season but includes a January break clause. This clause allows him to leave if one of his preferred European clubs meets his €75 million (£63.2 million) buyout clause.
Despite the speculation, Osimhen has dismissed the possibility of an early departure, emphasizing his love for Galatasaray and his commitment to the club.
While Osimhen’s impact has been undeniable, Yilmaz Vural doubts that Galatasaray can afford to sign him permanently. The
71-year-old believes the club should focus on nurturing local talents or signing more affordable players.
Speaking on the Telegol program via Haber Sari Kirmizi, Vural stated:
“Victor Osimhen is a magnificent footballer. He can pass people with his dribble, he has incredible control over aerial balls. He is a real centre forward and his technical and physical characteristics are very good..
“However, 75 million Euros is really too much. Our big teams like Galatasaray should acquire names like Barış Alper Yılmaz and Kerem Aktürkoğlu from the lower leagues.”
Osimhen’s performances so far justify his reputation as one of Europe’s elite strikers. In just ten appearances across all competitions, he has contributed to nine goals for Galatasaray, netting eight times and providing four assists.
While his future remains uncertain, one thing is clear; Victor Osimhen is making his mark in Turkey and remains one of the most exciting forwards in world football.
