Victor Osimhen continued his blistering form for Galatasaray, grabbing a goal and an assist in their emphatic 5-1 win over Konyaspor in the semifinal of the Turkish Cup on Tuesday night.
The Super Eagles forward opened the scoring in the 26th minute, heading home a brilliant cross from former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens.
The chemistry between the duo was on full display, giving Galatasaray a strong start in the high-stakes encounter at the Konya Buyuksehir Belediye Stadium.
Lucas Torreira doubled the advantage just before the break, putting the Istanbul-based side firmly in control.
The goals kept coming in the second half, with Galatasaray dominating proceedings.
Osimhen later turned provider, assisting Galatasaray’s third goal before being substituted in the 73rd minute for Yusuf Demir, who went on to net the fifth goal in stoppage time.
The Nigerian international now boasts 30 goals and six assists in 35 appearances across all competitions this season just one shy of his career-best tally of 31 goals achieved during his remarkable 2022–23 campaign with Napoli.
Galatasaray had earlier edged rivals Fenerbahce in the quarterfinals and are now just one game away from lifting their first Turkish Cup title since the 2016/17 season.
With six matches remaining in the Super Lig, Galatasaray currently lead the table by five points, putting them on course for a domestic double.
Osimhen’s outstanding performances have caught the attention of Europe’s elite, with clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Juventus reportedly circling for his signature.
Though a summer move seems inevitable, the 26-year-old remains fully committed to Galatasaray’s silverware chase.
As the transfer window approaches, speculation over Osimhen’s future will only intensify.
But for now, the Nigerian striker continues to prove his worth on the pitch delivering big moments and big results when it matters most.
As the Super Eagles prepare for the Unity Cup in London later this May; a mini tournament that includes Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago, Osimhen will look to carry this momentum into national duty.
With World Cup qualifiers set to resume in September, his sharp form is a welcome boost for Nigeria’s frontline.
