Victor Osimhen was on target again as Napoli strikes late to beat Roma 2-1 at the Diego Maradona’s Stadium on Saturday.
The Nigerian scored one of the goal of the season contenders to put Napoli ahead in the first half.
The striker was located by Kvicha Kvaratskhelia with a cross, which he chested and controlled with his knee bwfore unleashing a powerful volley that beat Rui Patricio.
He has now scored 14 goals in the league this season, equalizing his tally of last season with 19 matches left.
The 24-year-old also joined  Ademola Lookman as the only strikers with five league goals in 2023, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues this year.
Roma however found their way back into the game as Stephan El sharawy equalized with fifteen minutes left. The Italian winger jabbed in a cross from Nicola Zaleswski.
With the clock tickling down substitute Giovanni Simeone eventually scored the second and winner for Napoli in the 86th minute.
The victory saw Napoli move to 53 points on top of the league after just 19 games. The Partenopei are on course for 100 points.
