Victor Osimhen said he’s not desperate to become Nigeria’s all time record goal scorer, a spot currently held by the late Rashidi Yekini.
Yekini’s 37 International goals record in 57 with the national team is the best return from any Super Eagles striker.
With his four goal against Sao Tome and Principe, 23-year-old Osimhen, now has 15 international in 22 games.
Asked if he’s desperate to break the record, the young said, “Even if I surpassed the record of Rashidi Yekini for the Super Eagles. I still believe he’s the greatest striker Nigeria never had.”
“I’m happy to help my team, doesn’t matter if score four goals and also happy for my teammates that got their first national team goal as well. The likes of Ademola Lookman, Terem Moffi and Emmanuel Dennis,” He said.
While Osimhen is still 22 goals behind Yekini’s 37 for the Super Eagles, the Youngster’s four goals against Sao Tome & Principe means he joins the list of players who have scored four times in a match for Nigeria.
