Forward, Asisat Oshoala scored for Bay FC but her efforts couldn’t stop a heavy 5-1 defeat to Gotham FC in the NWSL, on Sunday.
Gotham FC took an early lead through a penalty converted by Jenna Nighswonger in the 9th minute.
Oshoala equalized for Bay FC in the 18th minute after receiving a well-timed pass from Racheal Kundananji and curling the ball into the right corner. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.
However, Gotham FC dominated the second half. Rose Lavelle regained the lead with a header in the 70th minute, followed by two quick goals from Esther González in the 72nd and 74th minutes. Cece Kizer sealed the 5-1 victory with an 84th-minute strike.
Following the loss, Bay FC remains in the playoff race, currently holding the eighth and final playoff spot with three games left in the regular season.
