Oshoala Proud Of Falcons Despite Tokyo 2020 Qualifiers Failure

Super Falcons Captain Asisat Oshoala says the team was unlucky not to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics at the expense of the Ivory Coast.

After playing out a goalless draw last Thursday in Abidjan, the multiple African Champions needed a victory in the second leg at home to seal qualifications for the games.

However, the Ivorians stunned the Christopher Danjuma ladies by playing a vital 1-1 draw in Agege to dump Nigeria out of the race for the tickets.

After losing out to the Ivorians on away goal rule, Asisat Oshoala who scored Falcons only goal of the game said the team gave everything on the pitch , but were unfortunate to concede from a direct freekick that left qualifications hope in shambles.

“These things happen in football, we see it every day.”

“Sometimes you have to take responsibility and let the whole thing out, we tried our best, we tried to get the goals and they were lucky to get a direct freekick which was an error from us.”

“But I’m proud of the team, everyone gave everything and we’re just unlucky not to win.”

The Barcelona Feminine forward, however, calls for calmness , while urging the Nigeria Football Federation to sort out the team’s problems urgently.
