Defender Gabriel Osho has become the first Nigerian player, since Taribo West, to feature for French club AJ Auxerre in Ligue 1.
Osho joined Auxerre this summer on a free transfer from English team, Luton Town.
He helped Luton gain promotion to the Premier League before their relegation last season.
The 26-year-old centre-back was included in Auxerre’s starting eleven in his debut for their league opener against OGC Nice.
While OGC Nice were without their Nigerian striker Terem Moffi due to injury, they included another Nigerian, youngster Victor Orakpo, on the substitute bench.
Gabriel Osho became only the second Nigerian to play for the club at Stade de l’Abbé-Deschamps, following in the footsteps of former CB and Nigerian legend Taribo West who also feature for the French team in Ligue 1.
