Fenerbahce’s full-back, Bright Osayi-Samuel returned to competitive football in Thursday’s Europa League clash against Union Saint-Gilloise, following a lengthy injury layoff.
The Nigerian had been sidelined since August, missing several games, including the’ last international break and Fenerbahce’s last three games including Istanbul derby defeat to Galatasaray.
Osayi-Samuel, 26, came on as a substitute in the 65th minute, replacing Mert Müldür.
However, his return was cut short after getting sent off for two bookable offences, leaving Fenerbahce with 10 men.
Caglar Soyuncu opened the scoring in the 26th minute for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Fenerbahce doubled their lead eight minutes later through an own goal by Christian Burgess.
Union SG was further hampered by Kevin Mac Allister’s straight red card in the 74th minute.
Ross Sykes managed to pull one back for the visitors in the 93rd minute, after his side had missed a penalty.
