Fenerbahce coach, Jose Mourinho revealed that Bright Osayi-Samuel was substituted during the match against Manchester United due to cramping.
The Nigeria international has struggled with fitness over the past few weeks, causing him to miss three games.
He eventually returned to the squad and traveled for international duty with Nigeria, where he faced further challenges in Libya with the national team.
The team was reportedly held hostage and locked up for over 16 hours.
Osayi-Samuel did not play in Fenerbahce’s weekend draw against Samsunspor, but he did feature in the Europa League match against Manchester United.
During that game, he experienced some discomfort and was replaced in the second half. However, Mourinho clarified that it was not a serious issue.
“Osayi had cramps during the match. He was injured for three weeks. He went to the national team, but he experienced strange things there.
“Strange things happened to them in Libya. We played him, and he did a very good job while he was on the field, but it wasn’t an injury,” Mourinho explained.
