Following his side’s win over arch rivals Enyimba of Aba in the match day five of the 2019 Nigeria professional football league season, Ranger forward Kelvin Itoya has hailed his teammates and described the win as ‘important’ one.
After excellent form in the CAF Confederations Cup, Rangers finally tasted defeat in their opening game of the domestic campaign last Wednesday to MFM at the Soccer Temple in Agege.
The Flying Antelopes however returned to winning ways at the Cathedral on Sunday with a win over the Aba Elephants, thanks to a lone goal score by Ibrahim Ajani in the 40th minutes of the game.
While speaking to brila.net’s Seyi Alao after the game, Itoya salutes the courage of team as they battle out of the disappointing defeat atMFM to secured the three points over hard fighting Enyimba.
“It was a good game ,we gave our best, Â knowing fully well that we lost our first away to MFM,”
“We have to come out of our shell and make sure that we get this one done because the first game at home which is very important especially when the league is abridged . So we are happy to get a victory over hard fighting Enyimba.“
The 2018 Aiteo Cup winners are 9th on the NPFL Group A log with a win and defeat but they still have three games in hand.
