Former Nigeria international Mobi Oparaku is disappointed over the Country’s failure to qualify for the Men’s football event at the Olympics.

Unlike past successes, including gold in Atlanta 1996, silver in Beijing 2008, and bronze in Rio 2016, the country has struggled recently.

In an interview with Brila.net, Oparaku criticized the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for not prioritizing the Olympic qualifiers, stating that this competition should be a top focus for Nigeria.

“When they are not being done the way they are supposed to be done, that is the problem we are encountering. It makes me feel so bad that I was like, is that like a fluke that we went there and conquered? For me, it’s been like a fluke because it has not been serious.”

He lamented that Nigeria, once a prominent contender, now seems absent from the Olympics.

“Nigeria has been here and now they are there. Now we are nowhere in the Olympics anymore. Let me tell you, I don’t feel good,” Oparaku concluded.
