Chioma Onyekwere has returned to the pinnacle of Nigerian women’s discus, reclaiming her national title at the Olympic trials held in Benin City.
The final was keenly contested but, she delivered a dominance performance to clinch her first national title in three years.
Onyekwere, a two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist and African champion, delivered a winning throw of 59.43 meters.
She outperformed Obiageri Amaechi, the African Games champion, who secured second place with a throw of 59.25 meters.
Ashley Anumba claimed the third position with a throw of 57.00 meters.
