Onyekuru’s strike earns Galatasary a point on enemies territory

Super Eagles forward, Henry Onyekuru scored for Galatasaray in their 1-1 draw with rivals Fenerbache in the Turkish Super Lig clash on Sunday at the Sukru Saracoglu arena.

Galatasaray came into the game with trailing league leaders Istanbul Basaksehir by six points and a win would reduce the gap to just three points.

However, on the dot of 45 minutes, Fenerbache were reduced to ten men as Hassan Al Kaldirim was shown a straight red card for a professional foul, although both teams went into the half-time break with nothing separating them.

The visitors settled quickly and started dictating the game in the second half, their pressure finally paid off in the 66th minutes when Onyekuru headed home a superb cross from Sofiane Feghouli to send the away fans into ecstasy on their enemies territory.

Fenerbache who also had former Nigeria international Victor Moses on the pitch hit back five minutes through 19-year-old attacker Eljif Elmass on the 71st minute to ensure both teams settled for a point.

The draw still leaves Galatasaray second with 56 points, five points behind leaders Istanbul Basaksehir.
