Super Eagles forward Henry Onyekuru took to his social media handle to appreciate God for his career as he adds another year on earth.

Born Henry Chukwuemeka Onyekuru at Onitsha in,  Anambra State back in June 5 1997, to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Onyekuru who guided the player’s path towards greatness in his favorite sport.

 

The forward has grown to be one of the most deadly Nigerian forwards in Europe in his few years as a professional,  after netting 21 goals for his former Belgian side Eupen in 2017, the performance earned him a move to English Premier League side Everton next transfer window.

 

The forward was then loaned to Turkish side Galatasary, where he scored 18 goals in all competitions to help the team achieved domestic double this year.

 

2019 has proved to be the best year of the player’s career so far , as he was also listed in Gernot Rohr’s 25 man provisional squad for this year’s African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

 

The player , however said he’s grateful to God for all he has achieved, and prayed for more success ahead.

 

“‘Thank you Lord Jesus for seeing me through yet another year! Thank you for all that I experienced in the past year. I pray in the days ahead to make this the best of my life so far, and through it to bring credit to myself, happiness and pride to my loved ones and joy to you.🙏🏾🙏🏾” he wrote on his social media handle.

 

Onyekuru is expected to be named in Gernot Rohr’s final 23 man squad for the 2019 African Cup of Nations after missing 2018 World Cup with injury.
