Paul Onuachu has been in imperial form for KRC Genk so far this season as his 9 goals in 11 appearances for the Jupiler League side makes him the top scorer in the division.
However, Onuachu has struggled to impress in the National team since his scintillating volley ended Nigeria’s 29-year winless run against Egypt.
The Forward has managed a single goal in his 9 outings for the Super Eagles and his contrasting form seems to bother most, but it isn’t strange says former Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo.
Ighalo described Onuachu as a “good player”, but admits the pressure of leading the Super Eagles attack is a huge and it can overwhelm.
“The pressure that comes with the national team is intense. Playing as the Number 9 in the Super Eagles is a huge weight. I understand that responsibility he (Onuachu) just needs to work hard for the team,” Ighalo told www.brila.net.
