Omonia Nicosia, is pushing for a delay in the release of Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite the mandated January 1 deadline for player releases, the club cites a goalkeeping crisis with Fabiano and Charalampos Kyriakidis sidelined due to injury.
Omonia Nicosia hopes Uzoho can assist as their first-choice goalkeeper against AEL on January 2, causing a potential clash with his Super Eagles duties set to begin in Abu Dhabi.
Uzoho is one of the six Goalkeepers included in Jose Peseiro’s 44 provisional list with the players expected to start arriving camp from 29th December.
The Goalkeeper’s position as first choice is under threat following the emergence of Stanley Nwabili and further absence affect his chances of keep his chances.
