Nigerian Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo was in action for Leganes in their 2-1 defeat to Rayo Vallecano in the Spanish promotion semifinal play-off on Sunday.
Leganes needed a miracle to reach the playoff final after losing the first leg 3-0 last weekend.
A second leg 1-2 defeat at the Estadio Butarque means Rayo Vallecano advanced to the final with 5-1 on aggregate at the expense of Leganes.
Robert Ibanez gave Omeruo and his teammates’ little hope when he put them in front on the 11th minute.
However, Leganes’ hope of a comeback was crushed when Sergio Gonzalez scored an own goal on the 66th minute to make it 1 – 1.
Andres Martin put the final nails to Leganes coffin with the Seale with ten minutes left on the clock.
Omeruo and his teammates will now spend two successive seasons in the Segunda B, while Rayo Vallecano advanced to the final.
