Kenneth Omeruo expressed his admiration for Stanley Nwabali’s remarkable performance during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Omeruo, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s dressing room, commended the Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper for his outstanding contributions to the team’s success.

Nwabali, who was unexpectedly called up to the national team just weeks before the tournament kick-off, exceeded expectations with his exceptional performances between the posts.

Despite his relatively short time with the squad, the Kasimpasa star firmly believes that Nwabili has proven himself worthy of the starting goalkeeper position.

“I am especially proud of Stanley Nwabali, how he was able to come into the team and show his qualities,” Omeruo told Arise TV.

“I have been thoroughly impressed by Stanley’s performance throughout the tournament.

“He has demonstrated remarkable skill, composure, and determination, which are essential qualities for a top-class goalkeeper.”

Nigeria’s journey at the Cup of Nations was marked by Nwabali’s crucial saves and commanding presence in goal, earning him praise from fans and teammates alike.

On how the team managed to turn around their poor pre AFCON form to reach the final, Omeruo said:​

“The team believes in itself, and knows it can perform better. I hoped that we would win gold at the 2023 AFCON, nonetheless, our eyes are on AFCON 2025.”
