Former Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa has expressed optimism about the future of Nigerian sports under the leadership of the National Sports Commission’s new Director-General.
Drawing from lessons learned during past Olympic disappointments, Ajunwa believes the DG will focus on early preparations and prioritize athletes’ welfare.
“For National Sports Commission, we have a new person on the stage. Things will be better because what happened during the Olympics, you know, have opened everybody’s eyes,” Ajunwa said.
Chioma Ajunwa spoke on the importance of proactive leadership and hopes for a successful year ahead under the new administration.
“I don’t think that the DG will allow what happened to repeat itself, so I believe that he is going to start preparation in time and make sure that the athletes are being taken care of.”
“Having said that, my wishes to them this year is that athletics, football, and other sports all perform gallantly.”
