Former Nigeria defender, Ifeanyi Udeze has credited one-time Eagles Captain Sunday Oliseh for his in-road to the national team.
Oliseh was captain of the Super Eagles between 1999-2002 and saw Ifeanyi Udeze play in a European club competition.
“My first contact with Oliseh was during a European Cup game. He saw me play and I guess I impressed him.
“Oliseh was the captain of the Super Eagles at the time but has shown great quality and understanding of technical football matters.
“He recommended to the national team coaches at the time and the rest is history.”
The former PAOK and West Brom defender also extolled the football brain of his former national teammate.
“To be honest I’m not surprised he has come this far or had this much success,” Udeze said on Brila FM’s show Center Circle.
Udeze went on to earn over thirty caps for Nigeria and featured in the Afcon and World Cup in 2002.
