Israel Okon clinched the men’s 200m title at the Nigerian Olympic Trials, delivering a career-defining performance.

This victory is Okon’s first in the event at the national level.

With a personal best time of 20.80 seconds, Okon narrowly edged out Akintola, who finished a close second with a time of 20.81 seconds.

The closely contested race highlighted Okon’s recent impressive form and improvements.

Meanwhile, in Prosper Nnamdi continued his dominance of Nigeria men’s Javelin throw, winning yet another national title in the Olympics trials on Tuesday.

Nnamdi has now won four on a bounce, with his first triumph in 2021.

Nnamdi was not really at his best on the day, but he still did enough to win the Javelin with a mark of 77.73m.

The feat was enough to earn him an Olympic qualification.
