Former international boxing champion, Wellington Okoh has lamented on the state of Boxing in Nigeria stressing that individuals and corporate bodies should invest in the development of sports especially boxing.
Okoh who is the Chairman, Edo State Boxing Association, has stated that the sport has continued to suffer lack of funding and decaying infrastructure, making it increasingly difficult to develop sports in the country.
Okoh said: “The state of boxing in Nigeria is in comatose which need’s urgent attention to be revived.
“We really need to go back to the grassroot so we can get talent that will take over from the old one’s,”
The one-time Golden Globe boxing champion has continue to show his commitment towards the revival of amateur boxing in Edo State, Nigeria.
