Former Nigeria goalkeeper, Emmanuel Babayaro insists there’s a massive value gap between the last generation of retired Super Eagles players and Gernot Rohr’s team.
Babayaro argued that the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses couldn’t measure up to the past stars of the National team.
The Atlanta 96′ Olympic gold medal winner identified ambition as the factor behind the gulf in quality.
He said the motivation for some players in the national team today was primarily, personal convenience.
On the other hand, the likes of Austin Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo in the last generation pursued success on the pitch which reinforced their commitment to both club and country according to the former goalkeeper.
Babayaro told brila.net that the value gap was essentially based on the principles of the two generations.
