Nigerian quarter-miler Chidi Okezie has secured his place in the Paris 2024 Olympics following an outstanding performance at the Edmonton Athletics Invitational.

Okezie achieved a new personal best of 44.97 seconds in the men’s 400m, marking the first time in his career that he has broken the elite 45-second barrier.

His impressive run not only earned him a victory but also confirmed his qualification for the upcoming Olympics.

In the race, Okezie outpaced competitors Wil London, who finished second with a time of 45.55 seconds, and DaeQwan Butler, who clocked an identical time to take third place.

This achievement highlights Okezie’s rising status in the athletics.
